Knowing what I plan to do on the school board and the issues that I stand behind will help you feel assured that I'm a candidate you can support for school board. The following reflects my focus in the community that I will incorporate in my work as a trustee on the school board.

Focus on Student’s Needs
Sunol Glen School educates a diverse population of students. With strong academic competency at the core, Sunol Glen offers students multiple integrated modes of learning including field trips, hands on projects, public speakers at assemblies, learning through leading (the buddy program), computer learning, and social/emotional curriculum. I’ve seen first-hand how the variety of teaching methods inspires engagement of students and also requires equipment and resources as well. I am committed to helping Sunol Glen continue to gain and utilize the needed resources to offer these benefits to our students. I want to make sure that our school maintains the strong connection to resources at SELPA to support the students in our school with special needs too. The variety of programs at Sunol Glen seeks to meet the needs of students beyond pure academics. Our school offers art, music, physical education, garden, science, and home economics when other districts are found cutting those programs. I will work as both a volunteer within the school and as a school board trustee to ensure that our students have the opportunity to enriching educational programs that promote the well-being of all students. Keeping Sunol Glen School an inclusive place is important to me and the continued success of our school. I encourage students at Sunol Glen to reach out to the school board to make their voices heard and I welcome updates at board meetings directly from student leadership and the rest of the student population.

Responsible Bond Expenditure
The Sunol community has passed a bond to give our school much needed repairs and safety upgrades. Residents of Sunol are making a financial investment in our school through the bond, which makes responsible use of funds paramount. I respect the contribution the residents of Sunol have made to maintain the safety of our school for the students and staff that utilize it every day.
I was previously the vice chair of the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee, demonstrating that I am committed to transparency with the bond. Strategic use of resources is critical for success of these construction projects. On my watch, the bond will stay on budget and we will complete construction work without levying new taxes.

Committment to Quality Teachers
Sunol Glen School boasts high caliber teachers in our classrooms. These teachers are a driving force for making Sunol Glen School a school of choice for those outside our district. I will champion the knowledge and efforts of our teachers through backing their access to continuing education. Our teachers are the best source of information on the needs of the students in our school. Their opinions and professional expertise is valuable to preserving the high quality school our town boasts. Open lines of communication with and public support for our teachers pave the way for school board members to make necessary policy to benefit our school. I intend to support resources for teachers to continue to offer a holistic approach to educating youth that has made Sunol Glen School a Distinguished School.

Ensuring Fiscal Responsibility
School board trustees are part of the checks and balance system to have a successful school district. Having a balanced budget and remaining financially solvent is critical for the continuation of Sunol Glen Unified School District. Trustees need to be mindful of the expenses the school bears to support the operation of the school board in its working capacity.

Promoting Community Engagement
As a school board trustee, my role will be to facilitate open communication channels between the new superintendent, the school board, and the community. Sunol deserves to be informed about decisions made by the school board. I will work to ensure that our district has the necessary equipment and resources to broadcast board meetings to the public who is unable to attend in person. As a trustee, I will seek out answers to questions that our community inquires about pertaining to our school and policies. I encourage all Sunol stakeholders to engage with trustees both via email and public comment at meetings. I intend for school board meetings to be a place where the community can contribute ideas and be heard. Listening to the variety of ideas and opinions that the Sunol community has to offer makes for a stronger school district for everyone.

Offering Leadership that Unites
My aim as a trustee will be to preserve the excellence of Sunol Glen School while utilizing compromise and understanding when needed. I want to seek equity for the variety of perspectives in our community. I offer leadership that builds consensus and unites by being responsive to the beliefs, values, and priorities of our community. Employing respect for school administration, staff, and community members will be my key to governance. All adults within the school community are tasked with being role models to our students, the future citizens of our community. I know that I can show our youth that people can disagree and still move forward for a common goal. I understand that as a trustee, I will be a public servant with the overall well-being and success of our students as my primary objective. It will be an honor to grow and learn as I work for the betterment of the school and community that I love.
